SUMMERLAND - The District of Summerland is beginning work this morning to restore power to residents affected by the rising waters of Okanagan Lake last week.

The district issued a statement yesterday afternoon, June 8, to say Summerland electrical crews would begin work to restore power to the Lighthouse Landing area through June 8 and 9.

The municipality hopes to make electrical connections above ground in order to reconnect residences without power since the city issued a state of emergency in the area last week.

Electrical inspections must be performed at each home prior to connection. Inspections began this morning, Friday, June 9. The district wishes to contact each property owner prior to the electrician’s site visit to provide further details of the electrical inspection.

Affected property owners are asked to call 250-486-3765, as soon as possible.
