PENTICTON - An early morning single vehicle collision in Penticton last week brought home the perils involved in distracted driving to a local driver.

RCMP spokesperson Rick Dellebuur says a woman travelling on Industrial Avenue west of Atkinson Street around 2 a.m. on Sept. 22, drove off the road and into a utility pole.

Police officers found the abandoned vehicle and when theychecked Penticton Regional Hospital they found the woman being treated, he says.

She told police she was eastbound on Industrial Avenue and drove off the road when she was trying to put a sleeve on a Tim Horton’s coffee cup.

The woman wasn't seriously hurt and the RCMP have not issued her a ticket.
