PENTICTON - A Penticton golf course is breaking with tradition this weekend.
Skaha Meadows Golf Course will be teaming up with the Penticton Disc Golf Club to host “Mayhem at the Meadows” Disc Golf tournament on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The nine hole course will become an 18 hole disc golf course with the addition of baskets and targets, according to a media release from the Penticton Disc Golf Club. The tournament is expected to attract disc golfers from throughout the B.C. interior to compete for cash and prizes in the single day, 36 hole contest.
It’s the first time a disc golf tournament has been held on a traditional golf course in the B.C. interior, according to the release.
Skaha Meadows has played first to another form of golf in the past. Last year, a day of soccer golf was held on the course.
Those interested in taking part can register online at disccellar.ca
The object of disc golf is to complete each hole in the fewest number of throws of a special golf disc. It’s one of the fastest growing sports in North America. The Penticton Disc Golf Club operates the Three Blind Mice Disc Golf Course of Riddle Road.
