Diamond ring found in Vernon Walmart glove returned to rightful owner

VERNON – A woman from Lake Country quickly bought a pair of gloves at the Walmart in Vernon as she and her daughter headed to the city’s Downtown Light Up event Friday evening, Nov. 27.

When Tanya Krcmar put on the gloves, one of her fingers slipped through what she says felt like a ring.

“It felt weird,” Krcmar says. “I pulled my hand out and there was a ring.”

Once she got home, she posted a message on a Vernon Facebook community page. Immediately people started commenting and sharing the post, and in a few hours someone contacted her saying they knew a woman from Armstrong who had lost a diamond ring.

Krcmar spoke with the elderly woman on the phone who was able to identify the ring.

“She described it. There was one little diamond missing on the corner.”

It’s a pretty nice ring and likely loaded with sentimental value, she says.

They are meeting today for coffee so she can return to diamond ring.

She says the experience has left her with a good feeling and adds it’s a great lesson for her teenaged daughter.

“She’s 15 and at the age when she needs to see this kind of stuff,” she says.
