KAMLOOPS - After tracking down her stolen wallet all on her own Alyssa Parent received a lot of praise on social media but still has yet to hear back from the officer investigating the file, even after supplying all the information she gathered to the RCMP.
“I definitely haven’t heard anything at all from them,” she says.
Parent gathered video evidence, photos and the IP address of the thief after conducting her own detective work. After 24 hours, she knew who the person was – she even spoke with him on the phone.
“He told me himself that he has warrants,” she says. “I think where all my frustration comes from was that all the information was right there for the (RCMP). I had all that stuff for them in 24 hours.”
Parent had her wallet returned to her in a bubble-wrap envelope after contacting the thief and asking for it back. She says after a discussion with a banking representative, she'll have to monitor her identity hasn't been stolen for a period of five years.
“Who knows what other things (RCMP officers) have on the go,” Parent says. “It’s just a little disappointing.”
