MONTREAL - More and more Canadians are expect to double up on their TV services — paying for both traditional and at least one online television service like Netflix.

That's the top tech prediction for 2014 by Deloitte Canada, which expects more than 2.5 million Canadian households to have such multiple subscriptions this year.

Deloitte's second tech trend prediction is that seniors will increasingly use smartphones this year, both globally and in Canada.

Rounding out the top three is eVisits, an electronic alternative to face-to-face visits for basic medical diagnoses.

Such visits amount to filling out online forms that are reviewed by doctors and nurses, not sitting before a web cam. However, they are good enough to offset up to 30 or 40 per cent of visits to the doctor.

Deloitte is predicting there will be 75 million such eVisits in North America this year, potentially saving more than $3 billion compared with in-person doctor visits.
