Homicide team to Burnaby, serious crime team to Surrey as separate deaths probed

VANCOUVER - Few details are available about two incidents in Metro Vancouver involving the discovery of a body.

The first was reported at about 6:30 Monday evening in Burnaby when the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called to an apartment complex not far from the Metrotown Mall.

A body was found in a suite at the Irving Street complex, and homicide investigators are treating it a potential homicide but say further information is not immediately available.

In an unrelated incident in Surrey, a section of Green Timbers Urban Forest remains behind police tape after human remains were found near 96th Avenue and the Fraser Highway.

The discovery was made Monday night but RCMP say the body appears to have been in the park for some time.

Members of the serious crimes team stayed at the scene overnight and the coroner has been called, but officers say it is too early to tell if the remains are male or female, or what may have caused the death. (Global, CKNW, News1130)
