NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C. - Two accidents on a North Shore mountain kept search and rescue crews busy this weekend.
North Shore Rescue says its first rescue effort began at 2 p.m. Saturday when it received a report of an injured hiker on Crown Mountain, just north of Grouse Mountain.
A man had slipped on mixed rock and snow, fallen six to nine metres and was stuck between a tree and a ledge over a steep drop.
Crews arrived on scene via helicopter and a long line rescue was performed on the man, who suffered an arm injury.
Then at 3 p.m. Sunday, rescuers were called to save a 63-year-old man who suffered an ankle injury on Crown Mountain.
North Shore Rescue is warning that despite unseasonably warm weather, there are still pockets of snow on popular hiking routes and they can be icy and treacherous.
