Crimes recorded by Kelowna RCMP have consistently increased throughout the year.
The combined total of Property Offences, Persons Offences and Other Criminal Code charges was 5,324 from July through September, up from 4,896 offences from April through June and 3,824 from January through March, based on numbers in an RCMP report going to Kelowna city council on Monday, Oct. 21.
It’s not unusual for crime rates to rise in the summer months because of tourism, but due to a change in how RCMP record and report statistics, the RCMP provided no comparisons to last year.
The report does not break down criminal activity by geographic areas.
