CALGARY - A Calgary mover is accused of defrauding several people and businesses across Canada and failing to pay for goods and services.
Police say that between April and November of last year, a moving company operating under the names SIA Transportation, Steven's Inc. and Anderson International was allegedly used to collect customers' personal belongings, then hold them ransom in order to demand additional money.
In some instances, it's alleged customer's belongings were kept for personal use.
Police also say that during the same period, a man knowingly paid for goods and services with NSF cheques and failed to provide payments for them.
A call from an SIA Transportation employee last November about the company's practices led to an investigation that turned up 10 alleged victims in Calgary and other Canadian cities, and the recovery of several pieces of property.
Steven Blondin, also known as Steven Anderson, who is originally from Ontario, is facing a total of 10 charges that include fraud, theft and false pretence.
