Crews work to extinguish pair of wildfires in Merritt area

B.C. Wildfire Service personnel continue to work a pair wildfires burning near Merritt today.

The 28-hectare Skuhun Creek wildfire, which was spotted on July 20, west of Merritt along Highway 8 is under control with 35 personnel working to put it out, according to B.C. Wildfire Service.

There are 20 wildfire service personnel working a second blaze in the Merritt area today, July 23. The seven-hectare wildfire is near Matthew Creek and was spotted on Tuesday.

B.C. Wildfire said the blaze is being held and no structures are at risk. 

The cause of both fires is under investigation.
