Crews responding to wildfire 29 kilometres east of Kamloops

A wildfire 29 kilometres east of Kamloops and visible from the highway is not expected to spread.

“The East Pooley Lake wildfire fire is currently classified as being held, meaning we do not anticipate any further spread beyond the existing or predetermined boundaries,” BC Wildfire said in a release.

“The fire is sized at approximately 0.87 hectares and no structures are threatened at this time."

”The East Pooley Lake wildfire, which is located approximately 29 kilometres east of Kamloops and visible from Highway 97 and Highway 1, has two initial attack crews and a response officer  on site.

Last night, Aug. 1, BC Wildfire said thunderstorm cells passing through the Southeast Fire Centre, were expected to cause further issues. The BC Wildfire Service at last count was responding to 13 suspected lightning-caused fires in the Arrow, Boundary, Columbia, Cranbrook, and Invermere zones.
