Cleanup crews were sent to Peachland on Saturday to stop asphalt coating from spreading in the lake.
A one-ton road repair truck landed in Okanagan Lake early on July 27, spilling fluids from the vehicle and its trailer carrying asphalt sealcoating, according to a notice posted to the Ministry of Environment website.
The Peachland Fire Department and a tow company were called to the scene, along with environmental response officers from the ministry. A boom was deployed to stop the fluids from spreading and remains in place as the cleanup continues.
The trailer had a 900-litre capacity and while it's not known how much fluid spilled, the ministry said it wasn't full at the time.
Interior Health was notified of the spill, along with the owner of a nearby water intake system.
The ministry notice did not say how the truck and its trailer came to land into Okanagan Lake.
