VERNON - A wildfire is burning near Vernon at Dee Lake and B.C. Wildfire is responding with firefighters and airtankers.
A plume of smoke could be seen from the wildfire southwest of Coldstream and east of Kalamalka Lake Monday afternoon, July 16. The fire was previously reported as being adjacent to King Edward Lake, but is more accurately located in the Dee Lake area, B.C. Wildlife says in an update.
As of 8:30 p.m. July 16 the fire was estimated at seven hectares, though no structures were being threatened.
B.C. Wildfire Information officer Marla Catherall said at 5:30 p.m. yesterday, 26 ground crews were being supported by two helicopters and airtankers.
