A crash on Highway 97 in Peachland has left one dead.

West Kelowna RCMP responded Sept. 27 just after 12:10 p.m. to a report of a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle on Highway 97 at Hardy Street.

"When police officers arrived, the B.C. Ambulance Service and the Peachland Fire Department were already on scene treating a motorcyclist suffering from serious injuries," Cpl. Megan Foster said in a press release. "Sadly, the male driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The next of kin has been located and notified of the driver’s passing. The name of the deceased will not be released."

The collision resulted in on and off closures throughout the day as a traffic analyst attended the scene to aid in the investigation. The events leading up to the crash are still under investigation and limited details can be released. Currently, the scene has been cleared and the highway has been re-opened.

Police are seeking assistance from any witnesses to the collision that were not already interviewed by the police officers at the scene.  Witnesses are asked to call the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
