KAMLOOPS - Highway 1 is expected to be closed for a few hours this afternoon due to a crash.

Police say two semi trucks collided head on near Cherry Creek today. According to a media release from Kamloops RCMP, one tractor trailer is in the ditch on its side and the other is totally blocking the road. There were no injuries.

As a result, Highway 1 is now closed in both directions near Cherry Creek.

“The highway is expected to be closed for two to three hours for tow trucks to clear the vehicles. As soon as possible, police will open the highway to single lane, alternating traffic,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.

Drivers are asked to avoid Highway 1 in the direction of Cherry Creek for the next few hours.

Drive B.C. reports a vehicle incident 15 kms outside of Kamloops that is closing Highway 1 to traffic. It's unclear at this time if it's the same incident. Keep an eye on Drive B.C. for updates.

Arrivals and departures to Kamloops Airport are either delayed or cancelled. Check the airport for latest information.
