Crankworx mountain biking comes to Vernon and welcomes women to compete in the new gold level women’s slopestyle event.

The world’s largest mountain bike event is finally open to women to compete at all festivals for the chance to win the new category.

“Freeride Mountain Biking is entering a new era in 2024 with women competing on a Gold-level course for the first time ever,” the site says.

The four day event will take place at SilverStar mountain resort from Aug. 2 to 5 with the main events beginning Aug 3. Hundreds of fans are expected to show up to attend the races.

The slopestyle event features wooden ramps over 12-feet tall, flat drops that are 15-feet high and a 50-foot whale-tale feature for bikers to race over.

According to Crankworx, the slopestyle is "the Super Bowl of the mountain biking world,” in which women can finally compete.

The women’s gold course qualifiers will take place Aug. 4 at 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the finals the next day at 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

People of all ages can join Crankworx for a series of multi-discipline bike events at SilverStar mountain resort. The races will feature professional, local and international athletes who want to experience the world of mountain biking.

Women and men competing in the event will come from Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North and South America to show off their skills and compete for the top prizes.

Throughout the weekend live music, art and food will be at the resort for visitors to enjoy.
