A Kootenay nurse will have to attend a hearing by the college that oversees nursing practices in B.C. after multiple charges were filled against her for misconduct.
Lynda Featherling has been ordered to attend a hearing by the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives for 13 charges filed against her from January through April 2020.
Featherling was employed by Golden Life Management at the Kootenay Street Village retirement facility at the time.
Among the charges are numerous times when she’s alleged to have recorded that she had given medication to residents when she had not.
There were two cases where she is accused of not filing incident reports after residents choked in the dining room.
There was an incident where she’s charged with directing other workers to clean and dress a wound when that was not in their scope of practice.
“On or about April 24, 2020, you were verbally and/or physically abusive to a resident (“Resident #9”) after she spat out her medications when you forcefully grabbed her by the chin and/or her neck and said, ‘don’t do that again,’ or words to that effect, as you pushed Resident #9 up against a counter in the medication room,” one charge read.
Another incident involved a resident who had fallen and “you shouted at him in a loud and aggressive manner to stop resisting your assistance,” the charge said.
She was charged in one case with not wearing a mask during COVID as directed by her employer then being abusive towards a coworker who reminded her that a mask needed to be worn.

The hearing is scheduled for March 1-4, 7, 10, and 11.
The charge sheet says the actions of the nurse constitute “unprofessional conduct and/or professional misconduct,” along with possible violations of college rules and the Health Professions Act.
