The number of new COVID-19 cases in the Interior Health region dropped to 69 in the last 24 hours from 85 the day before.

In B.C. as a whole there were 375 new cases, up from 358 yesterday.

There were 98 new cases in the Fraser Health region, 76 on Vancouver Island, 62 in Northern Health and 70 in Vancouver Coastal, according to a news release issued by the Province of B.C. today, Dec. 1.

There were seven more deaths but none in Interior Health, bringing the provincial total to 2,340.

There are 2,936 active cases with 301 B.C. residents in hospital, 98 of whom are in intensive care. This is the first time since Aug. 30 there have been fewer than 100 people in intensive care with COVID.

The vaccination rate for those aged 12 and over with at least one dose climbed slightly to 91.2% while 87.9% of B.C. residents in that age group have two doses.

The report now provides information on those vaccinated over the age of five, which is 84.8% of B.C. residents over five yeas old who now have at least one dose. That means almost 3,000 children under the age of 12 have been vaccinate so far this week since the first doses were administered Monday.
