COVID-19 vaccinations pass 79 per cent in B.C. as 33 new cases reported

The Interior Health region continues to have the highest number of new COVID-19 cases of any health region in B.C. with 13 of 33 cases in the last 24 hours.

There were 10 new cases in the Fraser Health region, five in Vancouver Coastal Health region, three in the Vancouver Island Health region, one in the Northern Health region, and one person who lives outside of Canada, according to a Health Ministry news release.

At the same time, 79.1 per cent of B.C. residents over the age of 12 have received one dose of COVID vaccine while 46 per cent have received their second dose.

There are 639 active cases in B.C. including 155 in Interior Health. There are 66 people in hospital, 14 of whom are in intensive care.

There have been no new deaths recorded in B.C. since July 8, leaving the death toll at 1,760.
