A second Oliver long-term care home has a COVID-19 outbreak.

Interior Health declared an outbreak at Sunnybank Retirement Home in Oliver today, Jan.6.

Four staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, according to an Interior Health media release. As a result, all individuals in close contact with these people are in self-isolation and monitoring for symptoms.

Sunnybank Retirement Home is operated by Interior Health and has 51 publicly funded long-term care beds.

There is no indication of any connection to the COVID-19 outbreak at the McKinney Place long-term care facility in Oliver.

Interior Health continues to monitor the situation. In order to protect the safety of all residents, outbreak protocols at the facility are in place, including a pause in all visits to the care home.

Interior Health has frequent updates and COVID-19 information available to the public at its website here.
