The Central Okanagan school district confirmed today that a member of the Kelowna Secondary School community tested positive for COVID-19.
"They are self-isolating at home with support from local public health teams. Interior Health follows up with anyone potentially exposed to a confirmed case directly through contact tracing," a notice sent out today, Oct. 25, from the school district reads.
"The safety and well-being of students, families, and staff remains our highest priority. Central Okanagan Public Schools will continue to implement the strict health and safety protocols and procedures that are in place so students and staff can continue to attend school as safely as possible."
The district will continue work with Interior Health to determine if any additional actions are required, and to support ongoing communication to the KSS community.
It's the second school case in Kelowna in the last 10 days.
Kelowna's École de l’Anse-au-sable announced an outbreak last Wednesday, when three positive tests were discovered amongst members of the school. Friday, Interior Health announced the outbreak had grown to 11 cases, and 160 members of the school were self-isolating for two weeks after coming into contact with the infected people.
