Second cougar sighting within days prompts warning in Coldstream, B.C.

COLDSTREAM, B.C. - Just days after a three-year-old female cougar was destroyed while prowling near a North Okanagan community, another hunt for a big cat is underway in the same area.

Conservation Officer Sgt. Josh Lockwood says members are patrolling an area of Coldstream, B.C., just south of Vernon.

He says a cougar was seen and photographed Sunday within 100 metres of Coldstream Elementary.

Traps have been set up after conservation officers were unsuccessful at tracking the animal.

Parents are also urged to either escort students to school or advise them to walk in groups and stay out of nearby greenbelt areas. (CKIZ)
