When Costco opened its first gas bar in Kelowna on Dec. 10, it undercut the competition by nine cents a litre.
Now, almost three weeks later, it’s still undercutting its Kelowna competitors by the same margin and most stations in Vernon have matched it at $1.32.9 per litre of regular gas, according to GasBuddy.com. Even Penticton prices, at $1.37.9, are more in line with the Costco rate.
Most gas stations in Kelowna, on the other hand, are at $1.41.9.
Since opening, the Kelowna Costco has sold gas for as low as $1.27.9. That was on Dec. 16.

Kamloops, on the other hand, was at $1.39.9 on Dec. 10, and remains there today with its competition sitting nine cents higher at $1.48.9.
By comparison, gas in Vancouver is selling at most stations for $1.57.9, in Abbotsford for $1.41.9 and Calgary ranges from $1.33.9 to $1.39.9.
