KELOWNA - Fees at the Glenmore Landfill will go up $1 per vehicle or $10 per tonne starting Jan. 1, 2019.
The new fees mean every vehicle using the site will be charged a minimum of $12. The fee change was approved by Kelowna city council in 2017 and is slated to stay at $12 through to 2020.
For larger loads, the fee goes to $95 per tonne, up from the current rate of $85. It’s scheduled to go up again in 2020 to $100 per tonne, according to a news release from the city.
And with Christmas and New Year's Day both following on Tuesdays this year, garbage pickup will be a day later.
Garbage normally collected on Tuesdays, for example, won’t be picked up until Wednesday for those two weeks.
For a complete list of waste rates and acceptable materials go to the city's website here.
