Kelowna RCMP officers handed out 45 school zone violation tickets during a targeted enforcement campaign last week.
Traffic cops focused on school zone speeders from Nov. 4 to 7, according to an RCMP media release.
Police nabbed one driver doing 69 km/h in a 30 km/h school zone on Hollywood Road South.
“Speeding in an active school zone is considered high risk driving behaviour and will not be tolerated,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Michael Gauthier said in the release.
During the enforcement period, officers also happened to spot four drivers excessively speeding outside the school zones. All four vehicles were impounded.
One vehicle was clocked doing 108 km/h in a 60 zone on Glenmore Road and another travelling at 105 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Highway 33.
“These enforcement initiatives will continue until the message is clear, slow down and help us keep our roads safe,” Sgt. Gauthier said.
