KELOWNA – Police have tracked down the suspect wanted for a hit and run involving a Kelowna RCMP cruiser.
RCMP say thanks to numerous tips from they public they found the black Nissan involved in the crash and arrested the driver yesterday, Nov. 26.
Police were called about a suspicious vehicle in the 1600 block of Dilworth Drive, according to a media release.
An officer found the black Nissan parked in a stall and parked his own cruiser behind it. He exited his vehicle and approached the driver’s side window.
“The suspect noticed the police officer, started the vehicle and reversed into the (police car) several times and fled the area,” Cpl. Joe Duncan said.
Later that day, officers found the suspect vehicle at a home on Stafford Road after getting a tip. A 31-year-old man was arrested inside the home and is custody.
RCMP say the vehicle has been seized and the Kelowna man faces a number of charges.
