A convicted child sex offender wanted by Vernon RCMP in relation to a sexual assault has been arrested.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP arrested Elden Robert Caldwell, 30, this morning, Aug. 26, according to a Vernon North Okanagan media release.
Yesterday, police issued a release asking for help from the public to track him down.
Caldwell was charged with sexual assault in June, shortly after the alleged offence took place. The file is currently working its way through the courts.
Caldwell has a lengthy record and has used several aliases over the years including Robert Riley, Duell Donaldson and Elden Caldwell.
In June 2020, he was sentenced to two years in jail for invitation to sexual touching with someone under 16 years old.
At the time he'd spent 18 months behind bars and was released on a sentence of time served.
Caldwell has a lengthy criminal record dating back more than a decade. He's previously been charged with break and enter, assault with a weapon, providing false or misleading information to police, and driving while suspended.
