PENTICTON - The conduct hearing for an Osoyoos RCMP police officer has been postponed.
Const. Amit Goyal’s hearing date, originally scheduled for March 8, has been postponed, RCMP National Communications Services Media Relations Staff Sgt. Julie Gagnon confirmed in an email today, March 9, though she would not disclose why.
Gagnon says, while not being specific to this case, every effort is made for adjudication board hearings to be scheduled in a timely manner.
“However, these hearings are formal, court-like processes, where much like judicial proceedings, hearing dates, times and locations are subject to change for any number of reasons,” she writes, adding reasons for delay of a disciplinary hearing could include scheduling conflicts, availability of the member, witnesses, or a hearing venue.
A new date for Goyal’s hearing was not given by Gagnon.
This is the third time Goyal’s hearing has been postponed, Global News reported yesterday. The Osoyoos mountie has been on paid leave for almost three years as he faces five allegations of disgraceful conduct and making false statements.
