One of The Mustard Seed Kamloops's signature fundraising campaigns is going virtual this year.

The Coldest Night of the Year event registration is now open and will take place on Feb. 20. This year, instead of walking as a group, participants are encouraged to walk their own routes this year.

The Mustard Seed has set their fundraising goal for $20,000 and money raised will go towards new mattresses for the Men's Supportive Living facility as well as "the creation of further outreach programs and services," the organization said in a press release.

"Our team looks forward to seeing photos and videos and hearing stories about everyone's experience," Kelly Thomson, managing director of The Mustard Seed Kamloops, said in a press release. "We know the pandemic has been difficult but we are excited so many people are committing to this fundraiser."

An appreciation drive-thru will be set up in the north parking lot at Sandman Centre on Feb. 20 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. where participants can pick up a pre packed "thank you" bag.

There will also be a place for supporters to donate additional funds that have not be collected online.

"Coldest Night of the Year is a meaningful and fun way to support those within our community experiencing homelessness and hunger," Thomson said. "Bundle up, captain a team, join a team, and let's all walk together in spirit."

Participants can register for The Coldest Night of the Year here. You have until Feb. 19.
