KELOWNA – It will be a chilly Family Day long weekend in the Okanagan but Kelowna has lots of indoor activities for you to enjoy with your loved ones.

The annual Spring Home Show at Prospera Place starts at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. More than 100 exhibitors will offer tips, advice and products for covering all your home building, renovating, decorating and design needs.

After the home show, treat the kids to a family dance party for all ages in the Parkinson Activity Centre ballroom Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. With a live DJ and party games, this free event is a chance to unwind without needing a sitter.

With Valentines Day falling in the middle of next week, the Wish Come True Society is holding their 6th annual Valentine’s Masquerade this Saturday night. The dance is also a fundraiser for the Society, who is trying to build a Hospice House in Kelowna. It takes place at Rutland Centennial Hall on Rutland Road North. Tickets are $25.

On Family Day, Feb. 12, the Kelowna Family Y, the Downtown Y and H2O Adventure and Fitness Centre will have special events for the whole family. Starting at 9 a.m., the three locations will offer chances to splash, play, stretch, laugh, sweat, cycle, lift, craft, climb and bond with your kids.

West Kelowna’s Royal LePage Place will host the 5th annual Princess and Superhero Family Day Skate at 10 a.m. The skate, sponsored by the Paige Foundation in support of Childhood Cancer Research, is a family fun skate for kids and adults alike, with music and door prizes. All costumes are welcome.

The purpose is to raise awareness of pediatric cancer and to raise money to fund new research. The event is in memory of Paige, a young girl who passed away from leukemia in August 2013. Last year The Paige Foundation donated $40,000 to BC Children’s Hospital’s oncology research. Admission is by donation.

The weekend ends with a visit from the Victoria Royals, who take on the Kelowna Rockets Monday night at 7 p.m.
