Coco is a boxer mastiff cross that needs some help.
The three-year-old pooch arrived at B.C. SPCA’s Shuswap branch with a cherry eye that had not received treatment for a year, according to a media release. The eye suffered some damage as a result and the vet has tried twice to provide surgical repairs to the eye without success.
Coco has lived her entire life tied up indoors on a short leash or outside on a long leash and has not been allowed to run, play or just be herself.
“Coco has an excellent temperament and is very affectionate. She can hardly see out of her right eye and it’s very uncomfortable for her," B.C. SPCA Shuswap manager Victoria Olynik says in the release.
Coco’s next step is to see an ophthalmologist for specialized eye care. She may lose her eye.
The total cost of Coco’s care is estimated at $3,220.
You can make a donation toward the cost of Coco's surgery at the BC SPCA's website here.
