CN National Railway is investigating after a train was derailed yesterday afternoon near Lytton.
"CN crews are onsite responding to an incident, which happened on Saturday, east of Lytton," according to an emailed statement from CN Rail.
"Preliminary information indicates that approximately 15 railcars containing coal have derailed, spilling some of their contents. A minor fire which did not represent a danger to public safety was extinguished."
No injuries were reported and no dangerous goods were involved in the accident.
The cause is still under investigation.
David Karn, spokesperson for the Ministry of Environment, said via email that no leaks or exposures were reported and no waterways were impacted.
