Cloudy but drier this week in the Okanagan

Skies are expected to remain cloudy over the next couple of days in the Okanagan, with the sun returning briefly on Thursday prior to a weak cold front making an appearance in the valley on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018.

OKANAGAN - Skies are expected to remain cloudy over the next couple of days in the Okanagan, with the sun returning briefly on Thursday prior to a weak cold front making an appearance in the valley on Friday.

Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says to expect today, Oct. 9, and tomorrow to be fairly dry, but with persistent cloud cover.

The sun will take over on Thursday, but a weak cold front is anticipated to bring some showers and gusty winds on Friday before a high pressure ridge begins to build Saturday,

Today will be mainly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers and the wind becoming northwest gusting to 40 km/h this afternoon. The snow level is expected to drop to 1,500 metres. The predicted high of 11 Celsius is two degrees lower than normal for this time of year.

Expect conditions to improve slightly tomorrow with a mix of sun and cloud, a wind from the northwest at 20 gusting to 40 km/h through the afternoon and a high of 11 C.

Thursday is expected to be sunny with a high of 11 C, with clouds moving into valley in the evening.

Friday could see a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of 12 C before a clearing trend begins in time for the weekend on Saturday.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are highs of 13 C and lows of 3 C.
