Clouds, rain and sunshine in the Kamloops forecast this week

The Kamloops forecast for this week calls for largely unsettled conditons, with a mix of sun and clouds and the possiblity of showers Wednesday and Friday.

The mixed weather conditions experienced in Kamloops over the long weekend are set to continue through this week with clouds, rain and sunshine in the forecast.

Environment Canada meteorologist Carmen Hartt says unsettled conditions will be with us until later this week when an approaching system from the southeast is expected to bring more clouds, bands of precipitation and a drop in temperatures.

Hartt says temperatures on Thursday and Friday could be five to 10 degrees cooler than normal.

“We’ll get a break on Saturday, but that will be short-lived, as it looks like the unsettled pattern is going to continue,” she says.

A look at the long-term forecast is suggesting a trend towards drier and warmer temperatures for the last week of May, Hartt says.

Kamloops should see a mix of sun and cloud today, May 19, with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a thunderstorm risk this afternoon. Today’s high is expected to reach 23 Celsius with a low of 10 C tonight.

A mix of sun and cloud Wednesday should become mainly cloudy by noon with showers and a high of 22 C. Winds becoming west at 30 km/h are expected later in the afternoon.

Thursday should see a mix of sun and cloud along with cooler temperatures with a high of 17 C and a low of 10 C.

There’s a 70 per cent of showers on Friday with a high of only 15 C and a low of 10 C.

Next weekend is looking pretty nice at this point with a high of 22 C under sunny skies on Saturday and a high of 22 C Sunday under a mix of sun and cloud.

The warming trend continues Monday with a high of 24 C expected under a sun and cloud mix.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 22 C and lows of 8 C.
