Climate action groups plan protest at Penticton city hall

Climate action groups are inviting members of the public to join them in a climate strike action at Penticton city hall tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 27, 2019.

PENTICTON - Penticton organizations are staging climate strike action in the city tomorrow.

Protect our Winter’s Katie Hurley says her group is planning to meet at Slackwater Brewing around 11 a.m. tomorrow, Sept. 27, to make signs prior to assembling in front of city hall at noon.

A second group known as 350.org is also expected to be meeting on the steps of city hall in support of climate action.

Protect our Winters Canada is an outdoor focus group supporting efforts for climate change.

“Hopefully we will get as many people as we can,” Hurley says.

First Things First Okanagan, a south Okanagan environmental group with concerns about global climate change have also posted a message on their Facebook page regarding the action on city hall.

The group is inviting Penticton residents to take action by joining millions around the world in the biggest climate strike to date.
