PENTICTON - A no-show at Monday's city council meeting means the owner of 2379 Wiltse Dr. will get a bill for repairs when the city fixes a wood retaining wall threatening the stability of nearby homes.
The retaining wall, owned by John Nemes, sits below other properties. The condition of the wall is poor enough to endanger the stability of the higher buildings, according to city staff.
Collecting the bill for the work might not be straightforward. Building manager Ken Kunka said Nemes might be the title holder but the Royal Bank is preparing to sell the property under foreclosure proceedings.
The building manager said city staff will get to repairing the wall and work with neighbouring properties about any remedial fixes. The cost of the work hasn't been determined.
