PENTICTON - The City of Penticton has acquired a piece of real estate adjacent to the South Okanagan Events Centre property on Power Street.

The announcement was made during Monday night’s council meeting, Oct. 5, and came following an in camera discussion following from a previous meeting.

The 1.495 acre parcel is located at 903 Vernon Ave., also accessible by Westminster Avenue, and was purchased for $1.55 million.

In making the announcement, Communications Officer Simone Blais says the property 'opens up opportunities for future public amenities.'

“It’s a prime location for sports fields, new or replacement facilities for ageing infrastructure, parking or other public amenities,” Mayor Andrew Jakubeit says, adding the city, "Hasn’t yet defined what we’re going to do with it.”
