The City of Penticton is hoping to facilitate local business able to take economic advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recognizing the health crisis has also created some job opportunities for certain services and goods, the City is launching an initiative to highlight local companies hiring to meet those needs, according to a media release.

The City’s economic development department is using their regional online job posting service, StartHereOkanagan.com to invite local business to post their vacant positions with a unique COVID-19 hiring tag that will filter and feature the jobs on a specific webpage created expressly for this purpose.

“We want to help businesses hire quickly in these challenging times. The community is disrupted in many ways right now as we encourage people to stay home as much as possible,” economic development specialist Andrew Kemp says in the release. "Helping ensure that essential services and goods are available is critical."

The online job listing service is free to job seekers and local employers.

The COVID-19 job tag should be used for any vacancy that needs to be urgently filled. Employers can go straight to the website and upload their postings or they can email Jennifer Vincent at jennifer.vincent@penticton.ca.

As jobs are posted they will be featured on this website.
