City of Penticton begins capital works schedule for the summer of 2017

Work has begun on the City of Penticton's summer Capital Works Program, as infrastructure renewals take place on Nelson Avenue this month.

PENTICTON - The City of Penticton’s work crews will be busy in various neighbourhoods throughout the city this summer as the Penticton Capital Works Program gets underway.

Infrastructure replacement and repaving is occurring on several city streets this year:

  • May 22- June 26: Phase One - Nelson Avenue (Manitoba Street to Government Street) crews will be removing asphalt, replacing the sewer and water main and re-paving.
  • July 3 through August 14:  Phase Two-Nelson Avenue water main will be replaced along with sewer services from Manitoba Street to Government Street.
  • August 21 to October 16: Scott Avenue water main replacement from Timmins to Argyle Street. Water main, testing, storm drains, curb and sidewalk and paving will take place.
  • August 7 to October 23: Timmins Street and Conklin Avenue,  water main and road reconstruction, with testing, storm drains, curb and sidewalk replacement and paving.
  • July 3 to July 31: Columbia Avenue traffic calming construction. between Allison Street and Hatfield Avenue, where storm drains, curbs and sidewalk replacement and paving will take place.
  • July 24 to August 7: Lawrence Avenue sidewalk replacement, traffic calming, along with storm drains and curbs.
  • August 7 to August 21: South Main Street and South Beach Drive crosswalk,  storm drains, curbs and sidewalk replacement and paving.
  • October 2 to October16: Warren Avenue and Quebec Street crosswalk, storm drain, curb and sidewalk replacement.
  • October 9 to October 23: Vancouver Avenue and Lower Bench Road storm drain, curb and sidewalk replacement and repaving.
