KAMLOOPS - The City of Kamloops is now accepting nominations for this year's Exemplary Service Award.

The award formally acknowledges people who have dedicated their time and service to the City, according to the City of Kamloops website. Winners will receive an Exemplary Service Award to recognize their contributions to the community.

Contestants can be nominated under two categories: Young adult for those age 29 and under; and Adult for those 30 and over.

The City is looking for nominees who have "demonstrated commitment to various endeavours or services to the community over a period of time." The service should be a voluntary contribution to the development of the community or the well-being of its citizens.

Nominees have to have been residents of Kamloops during their service. Nominations won't be accepted from family members. Present members of council, city staff and groups cannot be nominated. Former winners and people who have already received the Freedom of the City, or a Centennial Medal also do not qualify.

Some past winners include Sam Numsen, president of Kamloops Pride, as well as Supt. Brad Mueller the city's former RCMP detachment commander.

Completed nomination forms have to be in by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8.

Go to the City's website here for more information and to fill out a form.
