Around 100 bikes, along with office furniture, are going up for auction as the City of Kamloops moves to get rid of recovered items next week.

In a first-of-its-kind auction for the city, residents can go online to buy up items the city has stock piled over the years, according to a news release.

“We hope it will be a good opportunity for residents and local industry to find deals on items they can use while freeing up space in city storage facilities and earning some return to support the city’s general reserves," Ray Sison of the City of Kamloops said in the release.

The online catalog already includes 101 bikes, one pair of bike wheels and 36 pieces of old office furniture.

Anyone who finds their old bikes on the auction site can reclaim them once identified to city staff.

“We hope this event can reunite as many residents as possible with their lost or stolen property,” explained Sison. “We have extended evening hours on both days for viewing to try to accommodate people’s schedules and to give them an opportunity to make a claim.”

Bidding will be open from 9 a.m., Aug 4, to 9 a.m., Aug. 6.

Bids will be online only and prospective buyers first have to register, but residents can stop by the Valleyview Arena between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., Aug. 4 and 5 to see the items in person.

More information on auction registration, along with the catalog, can be found at the auction website here.
