Child killed in head-on crash on Highway 97C near Logan Lake

A child is dead after a head-on collision on Highway 97C near Logan Lake today.

Logan Lake RCMP and emergency services responded to the collision involving a passenger vehicle and a large utility vehicle on Highway 97C near Foley Road south of Logan Lake at around 12:15 p.m. today, Nov. 18, according to a B.C. Highway Patrol media release.

A child in the passenger vehicle was killed. RCMP are unsure at this time if any of the others occupants in the vehicles were injured, and if they were, the extent of those injuries.

Motorists are being detoured around the scene through Foley Road.

RCMP said neither of the vehicles involved were transporting dangerous goods.

The investigation is still being conducted but police say there is no evidence to suggest criminality. Leading the investigation is B.C. Highway Patrol in Merritt which is being assisted by the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, B.C. Coroners Service and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement branch.

Anyone with information about this collision, including any dashboard camera video, is asked to call the B.C. Highway Patrol in Merritt at 250-378-4262 and quote file 2021-5574.
