Chief Byron Louis back in as Okanagan Indian Band leader

OKANAGAN INDIAN BAND — Voters have had their say for who will govern the Okanagan Indian Band for the next term.

Incumbent Chief Byron Louis is back at the helm. He received 240 votes overall taking the lead over Dan Wilson with 183 votes for chief and Cindy Brewer with 148, according to the band's webpage. Both Brewer and Wilson will serve on council. There were 10 spoiled ballots for chief votes.

Those elected for council include Val Chiba, Sharon Cullen, Timothy Isaac, Garett Lawrence, Allan B. Louis, Sheldon Louis, Ryan Oliverius, and Leland Wilson.

The vote took place yesterday, March 29. Polls closed at 8 p.m.
