PENTICTON - Construction progress continues on the Jacques-Villenueve-designed race car track near Oliver.
The five kilometre Area 27 race track is starting to take shape since construction activity got underway in November 2015.
South Okanagan Motorsports Corporation recently signed a 99 year lease with the Osoyoos Indian Band to secure the 277 acre property for the F1A track.
Touted as a new concept in sports and tourism unique to Canada, the track is expected to put motorsports within reach of tourists and residents of the South Okanagan.
Plans call for the main track, club house, teaching centre and karting track to be constructed on the property.
The members only track is expected to be available for use by late spring.
Take a look at the video below to see construction progress on the site.
