CHASE - Three men were arrested over the weekend after almost 450 marijuana plants were found in a Shuswap area residence.

On Friday, March 3, police entered a home on the 2000 block of the Squilax Anglemont Road in Lee Creek, east of Chase. On the property they found a grow-op with 448 marijuana plants inside along with 15 lbs. of dried marijuana.

Three men were arrested at the scene and have been released on a promise to appear in court.

Chase police were also busy this weekend when a trailer unit caught fire Saturday afternoon, March 4. Around 1 p.m. police were called to a section of the Trans Canada Highway east of Squilax Anglemont Road where a trailer unit was in flames.

The driver was able to detach the unit and movie it to a safe area, but was unable to put out the fire. The Shuswap Volunteer Fire Department eventually extinguished the flames. The highway was closed for an hour while the fire was dealt with and traffic was reduced to one lane for a couple hours to remove debris.
