CHASE - A man who has had dozens of cats seized in both Chase and Kamloops is facing charges.

Chase RCMP say charges are pending against the man who at one point owned 60 cats.

"As of June 30th charges are pending against the owner for causing unnecessary pain and suffering and for failing to provide suitable and adequate condition to the cats," Cpl. Scott Linklater says in a media release.

Linklater says Chase RCMP received a report of a parked travel trailer containing a number of cats on Feb. 19. The B.C. SPCA attended and at the time no issues were noted.

But after monitoring the situation, a search warrant was executed on May 11 and 60 cats were seized by the SPCA, he says.

iNFOnews.ca reported in May the B.C. SPCA was seeking a ban on animal ownership against the man. He had moved to Chase from Kamloops to avoid the City's bylaw which allows pet owners to have just two cats per property.
