Charges laid in firearm trafficking investigation in Kelowna

A suspect has been charged with multiple firearm offences and drug trafficking following a Kelowna RCMP investigation from May last year.

As a result of a May 20, 2020 police raid at a home on Theodora Road, Keenan Ely, 23, was charged on multiple firearms-related offences. He was released from custody under "strict conditions" while he waits for a court date, according to an RCMP media release.

The charges follow a search warrant by the Kelowna RCMP Special Enforcement Team where they were investigating for suspecting firearms trafficking. Now the investigation has moved further into a "related drug trafficking operation", RCMP said.

"This investigation resulted in search warrants at two Kelowna residences," said media relations officer Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy. "A significant amount of cash and two vehicles were located and seized."

No charges have been laid in the second investigation.

Anyone with further information on this investigation, or any other suspected firearms traffickers, is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP Special Enforcement Team at 250-762-3300. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.crimestoppers.net or at 1-800-222-8477.
