KELOWNA - Kelowna kids facing food insecurity will receive a major helping hand this summer.

The After the Bell 2019 summer food program for kids launched across Canada, sending more than 100,000 healthy food packs to food banks in the country. The packs contain oatmeal, raisins, cereal, and other healthy choices.

The Central Okanagan Food Bank received more than 6000 healthy food packs to distribute to Kelowna and West Kelowna kids facing food insecurity.

“Childhood hunger is real,” said Tamie Williams, Communications Officer for the Central Okanagan Food Bank, in a press release.  “We are very grateful to have these healthy food packs for children who face food insecurity."

The After the Bell program runs until the end of August.
