PENTICTON - The Cool Creek wildfire is forcing an evacuation of Cathedral Lakes Lodge in Cathedral Provincial Park in the Similkameen region.
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen issued an evacuation order for the lodge and the lodge’s basecamp on Ewart Creek Road today, Aug. 24. The wildfire is about 20 kilometres east-northeast of the community of Eastgate.
It’s the second evacuation order this month for Cathedral Lakes Lodge, as staff and guests totalling approximately 80 people were evacuated on Aug. 1.
The 6,900 ha Cool Creek wildfire is classified as out of control and is believed to have been caused by lightning, B.C. Wildfire said.
